Charles Leclerc vs Max Verstappen - Race Engineer Analysis
We decided to put real-life f1 data into Track Titan to analyse exactly how drivers differ from each other.
Two of the quickest drivers in F1 are Verstappen and Leclerc and because we put real life f1 data into Track Titan, I thought I’d take a look at comparing their telemetry.
So, this is Qualifying 3 from the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at turn 9.
We can see that Max gets to full brake pressure quicker than Charles and get’s off the brakes sooner too. This is down to two aspects. Firstly, Max is marginally quicker at downshifting to enhance engine braking and secondly, Charles is smoother on and off the throttle, meaning he spends more time with the accelerator on. We can see that on the speed, max is able to scrub off speed more quickly.
Similar to what we have seen before, Verstappens inputs are very direct and sharp, Leclerc’s are smoother. Whether that’s down to the car is the eternal question, but in this corner, Max comes out marginally ahead.
