Analysis
Using the Track Titan software, we can compare a community driver to the HYMO driver through Turn 4. This is a slow, tight left hander where a smooth throttle application is an essential part of getting the fastest lap.
We can see from the braking data that the HYMO driver (in light blue) utilises trail braking on the entry to the corner. They slowly release the brake pedal as they begin to turn in which helps to settle the car, while also helping it to rotate through the corner. While they do get on the throttle later than the community driver, they can reach 100% throttle a lot faster thanks to the extra rotation they were able to use, pointing them towards the exit of the corner a lot sooner. On the other hand, the community driver is very abrupt and inconsistent with their braking. This will unsettle the car, and it will mean the car has less rotation. While they do manage to get on the throttle earlier, momentarily gaining some time, this doesn’t last long as they can’t reach full throttle fast enough, and they have to keep turning to make the exit of the corner.

Hot Laps Top Tips
Mastering a hot lap is as much about understanding your car as it is about skill. Trusting your vehicle and its grip is crucial. The tires are your only contact with the track, and their grip dictates your car’s performance. Start by feeling the car’s response in different situations - during acceleration, braking, and cornering. This will give you a sense of the grip level and how much the car can handle.
Pushing the limits is part of the learning process. Don’t be afraid to go over the limit when you start practising. It’s only by crossing the line that you’ll truly find where it is. Remember, every track and car combination has its unique limit. Your job is to find it, understand it, and use it to your advantage.
