Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 Zandvoort HYMO Hot Lap Analysis

Let’s take a look at this hot lap of Zandvoort in the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 driven by HYMO.

The Track

This challenging, technical circuit can present a formidable task in configuring your car's setup. Negotiating corners like Tarzanbocht, Scheivlak, and Hugenholtzbocht demands precise balance. Luckily, HYMO has you covered with the exact setup utilised in this impressive lap video HERE.

Established in 1948, Circuit Zandvoort stands as a renowned racing venue. Hosting the Formula One Dutch Grand Prix intermittently since 1952, and consistently since 2021, the track features a mix of tight turns, banked corners, and thrilling elevation changes. Zandvoort has also been a fixture in the FIA World Endurance Championship since 1985.

Analysis

We can use the Track Titan software to compare a community driver to the HYMO driver through Turn 10. This is a long left hander where it’s important to trail brake, turn in early and keep a tight line.

Looking at the braking graph, we can see that the HYMO driver (in light blue) utilises trail braking, which helps them to turn the car into the corner. This allows them to get closer to the apex and keep a tighter line than the community driver. The mid-corner speed of both cars is very similar, so most of the time loss is down to the community driver taking a wider and therefore longer route through the corner. In this case, it loses them almost 2 tenths of a second.

Sim Racing Top Tips

One of the most effective ways to improve your sim racing performance is to focus on consistency. This means maintaining a steady pace and avoiding erratic driving behaviours. It’s not just about achieving the fastest lap time, but rather about consistently hitting your marks lap after lap. This requires a deep understanding of the track, the car, and how they interact. It also involves mastering the art of braking and accelerating smoothly, and knowing exactly when to turn into a corner.

In addition, consistency helps in preserving the condition of your car throughout the race. Overdriving the car can lead to excessive tyre wear and potential mechanical failures. Remember, you can’t win the race if you don’t finish it. So, practice consistency, understand your car, and master the track. This will not only make you faster but also a more competent and respected driver in the sim racing community.
